Who puts the ink on the Bleat Sheet

Ozarks Goat News is printed in Arktopia County by the Arkatype Farms crew. The farm itself is a storybook place — magickal, interdimensional, and not on any map a strawman would sell you. The paper covers goat life, small farms, and the people who keep both. The byline on the packet is often collective. The faces below are the ones who file it.

Professor Gruff, Editor and Publisher of Ozarks Goat News

Editor & Publisher

Professor Gruff, D.Capr.

White Saanen-type, glasses, green vest, name tag that means what it says. He keeps the manger and the deadline in the same sentence. When the calendar turns a hinge — teal, archery, Expo, a raffle cow — the letter from the editor is his.

He is married to Dr. Emily Gruff. That is biography, not a joint byline. The paper is his; the county’s longer thought is hers.

Philosophy of the County

Dr. Emily Gruff

Grey-and-white nanny, short ridged horns, brass spectacles, cream ruffle, green cardigan, cameo at the throat. She sits at the study desk with the folio open and the Arktopia County map on the wall. She is not a beat reporter.

She reads Thoreau, the Tao Te Ching, and Aldo Leopold the way other people read weather. The standing column is From the Desk of Dr. Emily Gruff. Current: Thinking like a ridge. Earlier: The way does not hurry the fescue.

The Field Desk

Scoop & Inkhorn

Buttercup “Scoop” Nibbles is field. Smaller white kid, short horns, red T-shirt, brown fingerless gloves, a vintage silver SLR with the flash still attached. She brings the picture and counts what the road is doing.

Buckminster “Inkhorn” Hayward is features. Taller tan goat, swept-back dark ridged horns, navy vest over a light-blue shirt, pen in the pocket, spiral notebook at his side. He brings the sentence and will not leave a porch unquoted.

They leave by the same doorway and come back with the county still on their hooves. That doorway plate is the official look of the Field Desk.

Society & Costume

Nanny Belle Quill

She files the rooms where people dress as if the county were watching — Perryville sequins, wedding pasture, the Expo hall when it still has its manners. If a hem, a sash, or a goat in a veil matters, Belle has already written the caption.

Kid Reporter

Button

The smallest desk on the paper and the one most likely to arrive with an armadillo, a trunk story, or two bottle kids named after weather. Button signs the field packets when the week needs a younger hoofprint.

Collective byline

The Arkatype Farms Crew

When the yard, the bottles, the bees, and the court date all land in one packet, the paper signs it as a herd. That byline means the manger agreed. It does not mean the farm can be found.

Sister roster

Charlotte’s Critter Caboose

The news crew files the Bleat Sheet. The caboose keeps its own roll — Charlotte at the throttle, Dolly on the balcony, the dogs and the rescued critters who ride the wormhole. That roster lives on the sister site.

Arkatype Farms is fictitious and interdimensional. The public address is Erehwon — nowhere, spelled backwards. A strawman stands at the fork and offers two roads. Neither one locates the homestead. The Goat Maiden crosses over for markets. Shipping does not carry a pin.
