What the public record actually says
This page is the straight ledger. Everything after it in the packet is fiction wearing the facts like a good show collar.
Coming up
- Ozarks Homesteading Expo — Friday–Saturday, September 4–5, 2026, Ellis O. Jackson Park / Webster County Fairgrounds, 614 North Marshall Street, Marshfield, Missouri. Organizers advertise 40-plus teaching sessions (livestock, cheesemaking, canning, soap, foraging, solar, beekeeping) and more than 150 vendors. General admission about $50 for both days; kids 11 and under free with a ticket. VIP packages exist. Sessions start early Saturday (opening ceremony listed around 7:50 a.m.).
- Arkansas Goat Festival — Saturday, October 3, 2026, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., Perryville City Park / municipal goat park, Perryville, Arkansas. Goat parade, costume contest, lingerie show, soap-making demo, two stages, vendors. Admission free. No dogs. Vendor list reported full.
- Howell County court — Logan A. Davis, 20, of rural Willow Springs, is summoned for an initial appearance September 28, 2026, before Associate 37th Circuit Judge R. David Ray. Charge on the public docket: one felony count of first-degree property damage. West Plains Daily Quill (Aug. 19) reported the June investigation: damaged electric fencing and six dead goats (two nannies, four kids) on Forest Service land off Private Road 5371, tire tracks to the animals. This paper records the charge. It does not record a verdict.
Already on the books
- Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions (Sedalia, Aug. 22) raised more than $271,500 for Youth in Agriculture. Grand Champion Meat Goat: Elsie Barton, Mountain Grove, Wright County 4-H, 75-pound Boer, purchased for $30,500. Reserve Grand Champion Meat Goat: Khaden Litton, Boonville FFA, 89-pound Boer, sold for $24,000. (Missouri State Fair news release / Jefferson City News Tribune, Aug. 24.)
- Heart of the Ozarks Fair — Elizabeth Eades exhibited Grand Champion Market Goat, bred by Ausmus / Bounds, sired by Vegas. (Bounds-Wheeler Show Goats 2026 winners list.)
- Washington County Fair ran August 25–29 and is now over.
- Whiskey Throttle Farm, Marshfield — Bobbie and Johnny Brooks keep registered Nigerian Dwarfs on about 21 acres and run The Bath Parlor on the square, goat-milk soap two days a week. (Ozarks Farm & Neighbor, Feb. 16, 2026; still the local color that matters the week the Expo lands in their town.)
Standing cautions, not new alarms
- Heat killed goats this summer, including the fifteen-year Backbone Bluff landmark called Crisco. Early September can still run hot. Shade, water, and do not haul at midday.
- Festival and fair biosecurity: keep dogs out of goat parks that ban them; treat any rabies-notice you hear at an out-of-state farm attraction as a standing caution, not this week’s scoop.
Items already fully reported in the August 28 packet and not re-broken here: Treasured Acres doelings Mayhem and Midway; Selene’s one-doe Grand Champion Nigerian Dwarf trip; the first-report obituary for Crisco; The Goat Ranch in Dade County sitting goatless; Washington County Fair as a live event.
